Despite the comfortable scoreline, the Dutch had to overcome several missed opportunities to extend their lead earlier in the match. Captain Virgil van Dijk also struck the woodwork, underscoring the team’s relentless attack. This performance was a marked improvement from their group stage showing, which concluded with a 3-2 defeat to Austria.

The Netherlands could face Austria again in a potential quarterfinal rematch on Saturday in Berlin, depending on the outcome of Austria’s match against Turkey later Tuesday.
