Manchester United Eye £35m West Ham Star as Casemiro’s Replacement

Edson Alvarez, a midfielder for West Ham, is reportedly a target for Manchester United.

A new center midfield player is needed for United, as Casemiro is anticipated to leave Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.

Alvarez, on the other hand, recently concluded his debut season with West Ham after leaving Ajax for £35 million in the summer.

Alvarez collaborated with Erik ten Hag for three seasons at Ajax, a position that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has maintained as manager of Manchester United.

Additionally, Ten Hag is still a big fan of Alvarez, who is 26 years old, and United have reportedly discussed the possibility of signing him this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Alvarez is presently practicing with Mexico and will captain his country for the forthcoming Copa America. He was on the verge of signing a £51 million contract with Chelsea in 2022, but Ajax pulled the deal.

On June 23, Mexico plays Jamaica in the group stage of the competition.

As part of many departures intended to increase their summer transfer budget, United is open to selling Casemiro.

The 32-year-old, who has drawn criticism for his play this season, signed a £70 million contract with Real Madrid in August 2022.

Joao Palhinha, a midfield player for Fulham, is also a target for United, but the Portugal international has made it known that he wants to sign with Bayern Munich after only losing out on a transfer to the Bundesliga team the previous season.
