As Virgil van Dijk, captain of Liverpool, gets ready to lead the Netherlands at Euro 2024 next month, he won’t have much time to relax. On the other hand, he went to Monaco for Formula One’s most glamorous event during his short summer break.
The current champion and fellow Red Bull Racing driver, Max Verstappen, showed him around Monte Carlo. Trent Alexander-Arnold is another player who is spending the weekend in Monaco; it is possible that Van Dijk ran into him.
Van Dijk spent most of the weekend in close proximity to Red Bull, while Alexander-Arnold was there in his role as one of the numerous famous part-owners of the failing Alpine Racing team. Unfortunately, Verstappen’s qualifying went wrong. The normally dominant Dutchman could only manage to get his car to grid position number six, at a track where passing is infamously tough.
Alpine placed tenth and eleventh in qualifying, so Alexander-Arnold is rooting for his team to do well this weekend. During his time off, Van Dijk has been doing the following.
